Cougar Freshman Krystal Ward Earns All-American Honors In Baton Rouge


HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's track and field team enjoyed its best showing at the NCAA Indoor Championships since 1984 as the Lady Cougars tied seventh place with 21 points on Friday and Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark. Rhian Clarke was the lone Lady Cougar in competition on Saturday as she finished fourth in the women's pole vault with a mark of 13 feet, 9 1/4 inches.

Houston's scored 16 points on Friday when Jenny Adams won the long jump and finished third in the 60-meter hurdles in her final collegiate meet. Adams won the long jump with a career-best leap of 21 feet, 11 inches and had a time of 8.16 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. UCLA was the women's team champion with 53.50 points. South Carolina was second with 40 points, while Clemson and Arizona tied for third with 30 points each. Arkansas' Lady Razorbacks finished fifth with 24 points, while Colorado was sixth with 22 points. Houston tied UTEP and Missouri for seventh place and North Carolina rounded out the top 10 with 19 1/3 points. Texas finished 11th wit
