1998: Completed second season of Division I volleyball at the University of New Mexico... played in 27 matches and in 86 games overall...tallied 172 kills in 516 attempts for a .118 hitting percentage...also recorded 61 defensive digs and 39 total blocks (six solo)...spiked a career-best 15 kills on the road against nationally ranked Hawaii...later hit .367 (15-4-30) in a home match against the Rainbow Wahine ...also had double-figure kills against San Jose State, UTEP and Montana...notched first career "double-double" with 13 kills and 10 digs against San Jose St...hit for a .316 percentage vs. nationally ranked BYU and a career-best .545 mark against San Francisco...

1997: Played in 29 matches and in 98 games as a true freshman at New Mexico...posted 150 kills and 49 total blocks in her inaugural season with the Lobos...hit for a .112 percentage in 439 attempts...recorded 13 block solos, 57 defensive digs and six service aces as a Division I rookie...

High School/Club Volleyball: National Merit Scholar at Taylor High School in Katy, Texas, as a senior in 1996-97...first team all-District 19-5A selection in 1996 and second team honoree as a junior in 1995...helped the Mustangs reach the 1996 Region III semifinals...coached in volleyball by Janet Koening...also earned varsity letters in basketball and track...two-time all-district selection in basketball...did not participate in club volleyball...

Personal: Born on August 11, 1979 in Houston... parents are Ron and Truly Heiskell...mother played volleyball and competed in track and field at Southwest Texas State... older brother, Sean, was a football letterman at Stephen F. Austin...Spanish major...enjoys writing poetry and playing pool... was also recruited by Texas, Texas A&M, Rice and UC-San Diego out of high school...chose to attend Houston "because of all the different opportunities here"...nickname is "Smiley."
