The Cougars cruised through the first two sets, taking 25-15 and 25-18 decisions behind .500 and .342 clips. However, the offense stalled in the third set, as the Lady Tigers picked up a 25-23 edging to extend the match.

In the fourth set, Houston kicked back into high gear and swung a .455 mark en route to the 25-13 victory and 3-1 final.

With the win, the Cougars improve to 3-2 all-time in home openers under head coach Kaddie Platt. Platt, who has won her last three home openers with Houston, improves to 17-5 all-time in home-opening matches across her career.
