Houston, Texas- The University of Houston women's volleyball team took 16th-ranked Texas A&M to the limit before the Aggies pulled out a 3-2 win at Hofheinz Pavilion Wednesday night.

Houston opened the match winning the first game 32-30 and had tied the Aggies 28-28 before Texas A&M claimed game two 31-29.

The Aggies took a 2-1 lead in the match with a 30-28 win in game three, but Houston came roaring back to win game four 30-19. Texas A&M won the deciding fifth game 15-10. Senior Jennifer Wittenburg led Houston with 31 kills while Jenny Tanneberger added 22 in just 39 attempts.

Despite dropping to 3-5 on the season, the Cougars demonstrated a vast improvement over an earlier match this season against Texas A&M when the Aggies pitched a 3-0 shutout.

Houston opens its Conference USA schedule against Tulane on Friday, September 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Hofheinz Pavilion.
