NACOGDOCHES, Texas -The University of Houston volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (26-16, 26-17 and 25-14) decision to Miami (Ohio) Saturday during play at the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack Invitational. The setback dropped the Cougars record to 3-12 this season while the Redhawks improved to 5-6.

Senior outside hitter Kinsey Cave led the Cougars with eight kills, while senior Erin Rice and freshman Jasmine Terry contributed seven apiece.

Defensively, sophomore Ingrida Zauere collected a team-high 10 digs while freshman setter Tara Roenicke contributed 22 assists.

After dropping the first set 26-16, the Coguars battle back to take an 8-7 advantage in the second set on a Redhawk attack error, but five straight points helped Miami regain the momentum, which they rode to a 25-17 set victory.

The Cougars begin Conference USA plan this week when they travel to Birmingham, Ala., Friday to battle UAB.
