Volleyball Drops Season Home Opener

HOUSTON - In the 2013 season home opener, The University of Houston volleyball team dropped in three sets (17-25, 20-25, 24-26) to the University of North Texas during the first day of the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup.
The Cougars (7-5) struggled in the first two sets, falling 20-25 and 17-25 to the Lady Eagles (7-7). After a 10-minute intermission, Houston came back strong in the third set, leading the whole match. North Texas tied up the score at 23 on an attacking error by Cortney Warren. Houston couldn't hold on and fell in the final set 26-24.
North Texas' Carnae Dillard recorded a double-double against the Cougars with 15 kills and 15 digs.
Going into day two action, LSU is undefeated in tournament play beating Baylor and UNT in five sets. Houston hits the court at 11 a.m. for a match up with LSU.
Following the match, the Cougars host the Flo Hyman Volleyball clinic at 1:30 p.m. More than 300 participants are expected to attend. North Texas and Baylor play the second match of the day at 2:30 p.m. followed by Houston and Baylor to close out the tournament at 7 p.m.
