HOUSTON -- The University of Houston volleyball team rallied in the third set, but would come up short, dropping its Conference USA match to UTEP, 3-0, on Sunday in the Athletics/Alumni Center. Houston senior Katie Norris led the Cougars with 13 kills on 52 attacks, but it wasn't enough as the Minors produced a .287 attacking day on 45 kills and just 12 errors. Following Norris in kills for the Cougars were senior Chandace Tryon with six and freshman Emily Howard with five. Senior setter Abby Simmons paced the offensive attack with 27 assists. Defensively, Houston was led by sophomore Natalie Keck's 17 digs, while freshman Olivia O'Dell finished with eight. Houston out blocked the Minors with eight, led by Norris, Tryon and Howard with two block assists apiece. Houston falls to 4-13 overall and 3-4 in Conference USA action, while UTEP improved to 11-8 and 5-2.
