HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team defeated TCU 3-0 at Hofheinz Pavilion tonight in the teams' second meeting this year. The win breaks a two-match losing streak and improves the Cougars' record to 12-6 overall and 3-1 in Conference USA.

The Cougars took an early lead in the first game, but TCU battled back to tie it at 8-8. Houston answered with three straight kills and eventually rallied to the 16-10 mark. Houston kept the lead from there and finished the game 30-21 on two straight kills by Jane Anne Karasek.

The Horned Frogs (9-12, 1-4 C-USA) capitalized on Cougar mistakes early in the second game, and went on to lead by as many as seven. Houston was able to tie it at 24- and 25-all on two Karasek serves, and led for the first time at the 26-25 mark. Houston rallied to win 30-26 at the halftime mark.

Game three began with both teams exchanging leads and keeping within a two-point difference. Boosted by three straight kills by Laura Koster, the Cougars pulled ahead by five and maintained the lead for the remainder of game three. TCU threatened with a rally and tied it at 29-29, but Houston prevailed 31-29 to win the game and the match.

The Cougars were led by Jane Anne Karasek, who posted 22 kills, 10 digs and two service aces. Two -time 2002 C-USA Player of the Week Jenny Tanneberger totaled 21 kills in only 30 attempts (.633) and added seven digs.
