Dallas, Texas - The University of Houston volleyball lost its rematch with the SMU Mustangs 3-0 (20-25, 19-25, 19-25) Saturday night at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas. The Cougars also lost 3-0 to the Mustangs on Oct. 9 at the Athletics/Alumni Center.

With the loss, Houston falls to 7-19 on the season and 4-7 in league action. The all-time series against SMU now stands at 9-6.

Two Cougars recorded double-digit kills on the night. Both junior Marluci Toazzi and freshman Jasmine Terry recorded a team-high 12 kills. Freshman Tara Roenicke paced the team with 26 assists and she recorded her eighth career double-double with 10 digs. Junior Amanda Carson notched a team-high 11 digs.

The Cougars opened the match to a hard fought first set against the Mustangs. They kept the score knotted for much of the way. After SMU was able to mount a four point lead, 22-18, Houston pulled within two, 22-20 but weren't able to hold off the Mustangs falling in the first set, 25-20.

SMU came out in the second set to an 8-3 lead but the deficit was too much for the Cougars to overcome and they dropped the set, 25-19.

UH went into the third set needing a win to extend the match but they would come up short 25-19.

Houston will return home next weekend for their final two matches of the home schedule. UH will host a 7 p.m. match against Marshall on Oct. 30 and cap the home slate with Senior Night on Oct. 31 against East Carolina at 7 p.m.
