Volleyball Defeats Rutgers In Four

HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team kept the last place Rutgers University winless in conference matches as the Cougars defeated the Scarlet Knights in four sets (25-23, 25-19, 13-25, 25-22) Sunday afternoon in the Athletics/Alumni Center.
Houston (15-11, 7-4) took a 2-0 advantage heading into the intermission, but the Scarlet Knights (4-21, 0-11) came out strong and won the third set, 25-13. The Cougars jumped on the fourth set and outplayed the visiting team to win the set 25-22 and the match 3-1.
Kadi Kullerkann led the Cougars with 14 kills and six blocks against the Scarlet Knights. Middle Kaiti Waters recorded the best hitting percentage on the team with nine kills on 17 attempts, hitting .412 at the net, and four blocks against Rutgers.
Freshman Sarita Mikals also recorded nine kills and 13 digs, just missing another double double.
Houston preps for two road matches this weekend as they visit Louisville Friday at 7 p.m. followed by a match at Cincinnati on Sunday at noon.
