LOUISVILLE, Ky. - In a hard fought battle, the University of Houston volleyball dropped in five sets (17-25, 18-25, 25-13, 25-23, 6-15) to University of Louisville Friday night at the KFC Yum! Center.
The Cardinals (17-7, 12-0) remain undefeated in the American Athletic Conference while Houston drops 15-12, 7-5 in conference play.
Houston fell behind 2-0 at the intermission break. The Cougars battled in the third set to stay alive as they hit .500 against the host team. Houston won the set 25-13.
Three Cougars hit double figure kills against the Cardinals. Freshman Sarita Mikals recorded her 10th double double of the season with 19 kills and 12 digs, hitting .200. Cortney Warren hit .300 with 16 kills and three blocks. Kadi Kullerkann knocked 10 kills and four blocks against Louisville, scoring 12 points for the Cougars.
Junior libero Natalie Keck had 25 digs, her second most of the season.
Houston's defense kept the Cardinals from a three-set sweep. The Cougars block at the net was key in picking up the win in set three.
Houston continues conference play with a match in Cincinnati Sunday at noon. The Cougars return to the Athletics/Alumni Center Nov. 15 as they host Temple at 7 p.m.
