Volleyball Blocks Out Temple, 3-1

HOUSTON - A total of 14.0 team blocks pushed the University of Houston volleyball team over Temple University in four sets (25-19, 17-25, 25-18, 25-19) Sunday afternoon.
Houston (16-13, 9-6) came out early in the first set, holding the Owls (17-9, 8-6) to a .000 hitting average. The Cougars blocking was key to the win as Houston recorded five team blocks (1-8).
Temple quickly responded in set two, as they took the lead and never gave it up. Seven Cougar hitting errors and a .303 performance by the Owls tied the match at 1-1 into intermission.
The Cougars took the final two sets of the match after intermission. They held the Owls to .039 in the final set, forcing 10 errors.
Kadi Kullerkann led the Cougars hitting .278 with 13 kills and four blocks while freshman Sarita Mikals hit .275 against the Owls recording 14 kills, two aces, nine digs and four blocks. Cortney Warren knocked 11 kills, hitting .240 and four blocks.
