The Cougars, under second-year head coach Kaddie Platt, are set to open 2013 on the road August 30-31 at the Delta Zeta Classic, hosted by Texas State, where they will take on Quinnipiac, Lamar and Texas State.
The Cougars will take part in the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic (Alcorn State, Nicholls St., Louisiana-Lafayette), hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette on Sept. 6-7 before traveling to Fort Worth, Texas to compete in the TCU Nike Invitational (Grambling, TCU, Ole Miss, SFA) on Aug. 13-14.
“Preseason, we will play some quality competition with matches against LSU, Baylor, TCU, and Ole Miss,” Platt said. “With seven new players, we need to get the whole team on the same page and learn offense and defensive systems quickly.”
The Cougars open their home slate when they welcome North Texas, LSU and Baylor to the Athletics/Alumni Center to compete in the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup on Sept. 20-21.
“The Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup will again be some of our region’s best volleyball teams and will be a great test before going into conference play,” Platt said. “We are honored to host the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup and want to bring great competition home to honor Flo and her family, while putting on a top notch, competitive tournament.”
