HOUSTON -- The University of Houston volleyball program wrapped up its first week of preseason training under new head coach Kaddie Platt and new assistants Jenny Andrew and David Hyte.

The Cougars spent Week 1 focusing their attention on breaking down skills. With a group of eight returners and 10 newcomers, the team spent time on collectively learning each other's strengths.

"The girls have great energy and are coming in ready to learn," Platt said.

Houston will continue to train during preseason as it gears up for a Red & White Scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 18 at Noon in the Athletics/Alumni Center and its season opener in Columbus, Ohio against Toledo on Friday, Aug. 24.
