Houston, TX - After a tough 3-2 season-opening loss to Stephen F. Austin in the afternoon match at the Crowne Plaza/Rice Invitational, the University of Houston volleyball team dropped a second-straight contest in the tournament's evening action across town at Autry Court. The Cougars were defeated by No. 18 ranked Teas A&M by a score of three games to none.

The UH offense, which had turned in a solid performance a few hours before against SFA, struggled in nightcap against the nationally-ranked Aggies. Texas A&M hit for a .290 percentage with eight blocks to claim a 30-20, 30-13, 30-25 win and improve to 2-0. Houston hit .069 and only senior All-America candidate Jennifer Wittenburg reached double-figures in kills with 17.

The Cougars will next meet crosstown rival and tournament host Rice at 11:00 a.m. at Autry Court. Action in the invitational concludes for UH with a match against Samford at 3:00 p.m.
