UH Volleyball Team Sweeps Memphis 3-0
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Oct. 7) -- The University of Houston women's volleyball team won its tenth-straight match with a three-games-to-none sweep of Conference USA foe Memphis Saturday night on the road in Tennessee. With a 15-6, 15-13, 15-4 win the Cougars improved to 14-3 on the year and remained undefeated in league play with a perfect 7-0 record.
Houston was paced on the night by senior Jennifer Wittenburg, who spiked 23 kills with a .349 hitting percentage and 17 defensive digs. Senior Michelle Frazier added seven kills and four blocks to remain unbeaten in C-USA action. The Cougars' 14-3 record is the team's best since start since 1994 team that went on to advance to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
Memphis fell to 6-12 overall and 0-6 against the league. The Tigers were paced by the tandem of April Harriman and Brittany Barnett, who combined for 16 kills and 15 digs.
The Cougars will next face Conference USA rival Marquette at home in Hofheinz Pavilion on Friday night, Oct. 13. First serve will be at 7:30 p.m.
