Preview: Houston Volleyball Faces Memphis Sunday

HOUSTON - After suffering a tough loss to conference opponent Temple, the University of Houston volleyball team travels to Memphis, Tenn. for a Sunday afternoon match up against former C-USA rival University of Memphis.

After a three set loss against Temple, the Cougars are now 10-8 overall and 3-2 in The American Athletic Conference. Memphis (9-8, 1-3) enters the match with only one conference win coming against Cincinnati. The Tigers fell to SMU in four sets Friday evening.

Houston Volleyball Earns 3-1 Win at Memphis
The University of Houston volleyball team was led by a strong offensive effort by its senior trio en route to a 3-1 win at Memphis in Conference USA action on Sunday.

Houston leads the all-time series 23-9. Last season, the Tigers fell to visiting Houston in four sets on Sept. 23, 2012. Memphis finished the season 12-19 (7-9, C-USA) tied for seventh place with Houston.

The Tigers returned only three starters this season and welcomed six newcomers. Freshman Catlin Lilly has been Memphis' standout this season. She is the Tigers leading scorer (213.5 points) and leads the team with 197 kills and 131 digs. She is the third best blocker for Memphis, with 22.0 total blocks (3-19).
