HOUSTON (Oct. 13) -- With perhaps its strongest showing of the season the University of Houston women's volleyball team won its eleventh-straight match with a three-games-to-none sweep of Conference USA foe Marquette Friday night at home in Hofheinz Pavilion. With a 15-2, 15-1, 15-11 win the Cougars improved to 15-3 on the year and remained undefeated in league play with a perfect 8-0 C-USA record.
Houston was paced on the night by senior Jennifer Wittenburg, who spiked 18 kills with a .467 hitting percentage and a match-high 9 defensive digs. The Cougars' five starting hitters all recorded hitting percentages of .400 or better for a season-high team percentage of .410. Senior Stephanie Heiskell converted on six of seven attempts without an error for a .857 hitting percentage.
The UH defense meanwhile held Marquette to a -.013 percentage and just 19 kills. The Golden Eagles were led by Megan Markowski's eight kills and .250 percentage.
The Cougars will next face Conference USA rival DePaul on the road in Chicago on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 15. First serve with the Blue Demons will be at 2:00 p.m.
