HOUSTON-- The University of Houston volleyball team will travel across town to take on Conference USA rival Rice on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Fox Gymnasium.

The mid-week match-up is the first of three matches for the Cougars this week, including a match against UTEP on Friday and Tulane on Sunday.

UH enters the match with a 13-8 record and a 5-3 mark in C-USA after winning six of their last seven matches.

The Cougars defeated UCF, 5-3, and swept Southern Miss, 3-0, in their last outing. Senior Justine Farmer recorded a season-best 26 kills against the Knights and Houston combined for a season-best 20 blocks. Senior Kelsey King notched 33 assists and a team-high 10 digs in the sweep of the Golden Eagles.

Farmer continues to lead the league with a 3.87 kill per set average. She also has a league and team-high 298 kills for the season.

King ranks fourth in C-USA with a 10.66 assist per set average, while sophomore Amanda Carson's 0.43 service ace per set average is tops in the league. She has a team-high 34 service aces this season.

Last season, Houston split two matches with the Owls. The Cougars won the first contest, 3-0, at the Athletics/Alumni Center but the Owls took their home contest, 3-2. UH is 57-13 all-time against Rice.

Following the match, Houston will return to their home court for two matches this weekend. The Cougars open the weekend with a 7 p.m. match against UTEP on Friday and conclude with a 2 p.m. match against Tulane on Sunday.

Sunday's match against Tulane will air on tape delay at 8 p.m. CT on Oct. 28 on CBS College Sports. Jason Knapp will be calling the play-by-play with Anne Marie Anderson as the analyst.
