HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Volleyball program continues American Athletic Conference play with a 2 p.m. CT match at USF on Friday and a noon CT tilt at UCF on Sunday.

• The Cougars, who are 9-13 overall and 5-9 in The American, are coming off an 0-2 week with 3-2 and 3-1 decisions against SMU and Tulsa inside Athletics/Alumni Center.

• Against SMU, three Cougars recorded double-doubles. Sophomore outside hitter Megan Duncan finished with 25 kills and 12 digs, while senior outside hitter Sarah Afflerbaugh totaled 16 kills and 12 digs, and freshman setter Abby Irvine tallied 30 assists and 31 digs.

• Against Tulsa, Irvine posted her team-leading ninth double-double of the season in a 29-assist, 16-dig effort. Houston finished with 10 service aces, its most in a conference match and tied for its second highest total overall in 2017.

• Houston leads The American and ranks 40th in the nation in service aces per set (1.53). The Cougars also rank fourth in the conference and 29th nationally in digs per set (17.15).

• Freshman libero Katie Karbo ranks third in the league and 24th in the NCAA in digs per set (5.32). Afflerbaugh (0.36) and senior middle blocker Brianna Gardner (0.34) rank second and third in The American in aces per set, respectively. Irvine ranks ninth in the conference but second among freshmen in assists per set (6.20).

• Duncan (2.78) and senior outsider hitter Brianna Lynch (2.65) lead the Cougars in kills per set, while Gardner holds the top marks in blocks per set (0.93) and hitting percentage (.260).

• The Cougars, who are 30-62 all-time in The American, are 14-13 (Sets: 54-52) all-time and 5-4 (Sets: 18-18) when visiting USF. Houston is 12-8 (Sets: 40-35) all-time and 5-2 (Sets: 17-12) in trips to Orlando, Fla.

• The Bulls enter Friday with a 5-9 conference record and 10-14 overall mark.
• Senior Alex Mendoza ranks fourth in The American in assists per set (9.06), while junior Reagan Davey is fifth in service aces per set (0.29). Junior Clara Payne sits eighth in blocks per set (1.08). Junior Maria McLamb leads the team in digs per set (3.78), while freshman Doris Carter leads the team in kills per set (2.60).
• Houston swept USF on Oct. 22 inside Athletics/Alumni Center.
• The Bulls are in their sixth season under 15-year Head Coach Courtney Draper.
• USF was picked sixth in The American Preseason Coaches' Poll.

• The Knights, who host Tulane on Friday, are 6-8 in league play and 13-13 overall on the season.
• UCF ranks fourth in The American in hitting percentage (.227).
• Redshirt seniors Taylor Wickey and Kia Bright rank second and fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.364) and kills per set (3.80). Wickey also leads the team in blocks per set (1.02), while junior Jordan Pingel holds the top mark in digs per set (4.15), ranking seventh in The American. Setters Erin Olson and Miranda Watkins average 5.67 and 5.59 assists per set, respectively, in UCF's 6-2 system. Watkins leads the team in service aces per set (0.19).
• Houston defeated UCF, 3-1, on Oct. 20 inside Athletics/Alumni Center.
• Head Coach Todd Dagenais is in his 10th year at the helm of the Knights.
• UCF was tabbed fifth in The American Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The Cougars will continue play in The American with home matches against ECU on Nov. 17 and Cincinnati on Nov. 19.
