    The University of Houston volleyball team has signed three student-athletes for the upcoming 2001 season announced Cougar head coach Bill Walton on Friday (Nov. 10).

    Kristy Nilson, Nicole Meusborn and Cielisse Schroeder are the fall signees with the volleyball team who will be eligible to compete for the Cougars beginning in the 2001 season.

    Schroeder is a 5-foot-11 middle blocker and outside hitter from Pearland, Texas. A versatile athlete who also played basketball while at Pearland High School, Schroeder was an All-District 24-5A selection for coach John Turner. She played club volleyball for the Houston Juniors under Mitch Casteel.

    Meusborn is a 5-foot-11 outside hitter from Cypress Creek High School. She earned First Team All-Greater Houston honors from the Houston Chronicle and was named the District 16-5A Most Valuable Player in 1999. Meusborn was coached at Cy Creek by Debbie Jaehne and was a standout club player for the Texas Elite under coach Justin Ingram.

    Nilson is a 5-foot-10 rightside hitter/outside hitter from Salt Lake City, Utah. She led Skyline High School to a 15-1 record as the Utah state champions. Nilson earned Second Team All-State honors under coach Joan Burdett. She played club volleyball in Salt Lake City for Klub Boom under coach Keith Siddoway and was also a member of the track & field team at Skyline.
