Volleyball Prepares for Senior Day on Thursday

HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team will wrap-up the 2008 Conference USA season Thursday night at the Athletics/Alumni Center with a 7 p.m. match against cross-town C-USA rival Rice.
Farmer will leave Houston as the school record holder in kills and total attempts, in addition to ranking second in career digs and fourth in sets played. She has led the team in kills the last three season and finished second in digs each season. Farmer is also one of only four active C-USA players to have at least 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.
King will finish her career ranked eighth in career assists and has recorded 11 double-doubles this season. She is a two-time C-USA Setter of the Week and a 2007 C-USA All-Academic Team member.
Freitas has played in 50 matches in her Cougar career after transferring to Houston from Western Nebraska Community College. She has over 100 kills in her career and is third on the team this season in service aces. Freitas also set a career-high in kills this season with 17 against New Mexico State.
The Cougars fell 3-1 on Oct. 21 in the first meeting with the Owls. Farmer recorded a game-high 21 kills in the match, while King added 42 assists and sophomore Amanda Carson had 18 digs.
UH is 57-14 all-time against the Owls, who enter the match with a 21-5 overall record and 12-3 mark in conference play.
Houston (17-11, 9-6 C-USA) comes into the contest after knocking off Memphis and UAB last weekend in league play to give them three-straight wins. The Cougars also hold a 9-1 record on their home court.

Following Thursday's match, the volleyball team will travel the Memphis, Tenn., on Nov. 20-23 for the C-USA Championship.
