HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Volleyball program continues American Athletic Conference play with a 7 p.m. match against ECU on Friday and a 1 p.m. tilt against Cincinnati for "Alumni Day" on Sunday.

The Cougars, who are 10-14 overall and 6-10 in The American, are coming a 1-1 week, splitting a pair of 3-0 decisions with a sweep at USF on Friday before falling in straight sets at UCF on Sunday.
At USF, sophomore outside hitter Megan Duncan led all with 14 kills, while senior outside hitter Sarah Afflerbaugh totaled 11 kills and nine digs. Houston recorded 54 kills, its most in a three-set match on the season.
At UCF, Duncan again led the Cougars recording seven kills. Sophomore libero Katie Karbo anchored the back row with 17 assists.
Houston leads The American and ranks 38th in the nation in service aces per set (1.53). The Cougars also rank third in the conference and 27th nationally in digs per set (17.15).
Karbo ranks second in the league and 21st in the NCAA in digs per set (5.37). Senior middle blocker Brianna Gardner (0.36) and Afflerbaugh (0.33) rank second and third in The American in aces per set, respectively. Irvine ranks ninth in the conference but second among freshmen in assists per set (6.14).
Duncan (2.83) and senior outsider hitter Brianna Lynch (2.65) lead the Cougars in kills per set, while Gardner holds the top marks in blocks per set (0.89) and hitting percentage (.248).
The Cougars, who are 31-63 all-time in The American, are 16-6 (Sets: 53-27) all-time and 7-2 (Sets: 23-10) when hosting ECU. Houston is 8-13 (Sets: 32-45) all-time and 3-6 (Sets: 14-21) when facing Cincinnati at home.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Pirates enter Friday with a 10-6 conference record and 19-10 overall mark.
ECU ranks third in The American in hitting percentage (.236) and fourth in both kills (13.30) and assists per set (12.37).
Senior Natalie Montini ranks third in the league in hitting percentage (.349), while sophomore Brandee Markwith ranks fourth in digs per set (5.14). Freshman Shelby Martin ranks sixth and leads all freshmen in assists per set (9.67). Markwith also leads the team in service aces per set (0.23). Senior Lael Ceriani leads the squad in kills per set (3.18), while sophomore Toya Osuegbu holds the top mark in blocks per set (1.10).
Houston fell 3-1 at ECU on Oct. 15.
The Pirates are in their fifth season under Head Coach Julie Torbett.
ECU was picked 11th in The American Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Bearcats, who visit Tulane on Friday, are 9-7 in league play and 11-17 overall on the season.
Cincinnati ranks fourth in The American in blocker per set (2.27).
Junior Carly Nolan leads the league and ranks 31st in the country in kills per set (4.12). Junior Jasmine Jones ranks fourth in the league in blocks per set (1.15), while Jade Tinglehoff ranks fifth in assists per set (9.77). Jones leads the team in hitting percentage (.273), while Nolan holds the top mark in service aces per set (0.23). Junior Abby Williams leads the squad in digs per set (3.78).
Houston fell 3-1 at Cincinnati on Oct. 13.
Head Coach Molly Alvey is in her sixth year at the helm of the Bearcats. Alvey posted a 38-24 record as the head coach at Houston from 2010-11 prior to taking over at Cincinnati.
The Bearcats were tabbed second in The American Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving five first-place votes.
The Cougars will conclude their season with a home-and-home series with Tulane. Houston will host the Green Wave on Nov. 22 for "Senior Day" before visiting Tulane on Nov. 24 in the season finale.
