Keck Named To American Weekly Honor Roll
Nov. 18, 2013
HOUSTON - Natalie Keck has been named to the American Athletic Conference's player of the week honor roll, announced league officials Monday. She helped the University of Houston volleyball to a big win over Temple Sunday afternoon.
This is the third consecutive week for a Cougar player to be named to the weekly awards given out by conference officials.
The junior libero recorded 41 total digs for the Cougar defense this weekend, posting 12 on Friday against Memphis and a season high 29 digs on Sunday against Temple. The two matches mark her 19th and 20th consecutive match with double-figure digs.
With the 29-dig performance, Keck had recorded 20 or more digs in nine matches this season and is good for the second best match high in four sets.
Adding the 41 digs this weekend, Keck is only 14 digs away from reaching 500 digs this season. She has a career total of 1,389 digs, ranking fifth in all time career records. She is also second in career digs per set with 4.34.
Houston heads to Florida for the last two road matches of the season. The Cougars take on South Florida on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by UCF on Sunday at 1 p.m. Houston returns to the Athletics/Alumni Center Nov. 27 for the final match of the season against SMU at 5 p.m. That night, the Cougars will honor lone senior Meredith Ware.
