HOUSTON, Tex. (Sept. 3) - The University of Houston volleyball team capped off a full day of tournament action at the Crowne Plaza Medical Center Houston Invitational with a dramatic 3-2 win over A-10 power Temple on Friday, September 3, in Hofheinz Pavilion. Houston's 15-10, 15-12, 7-15, 8-15, 15-12 victory over the Owls was the Cougars' second win of the day after defeating Loyola-Chicago 3-1 in the morning session by the scores of 15-5, 13-15, 15-7, 15-2.

Cougar junior Jennifer Wittenburg led all players in the Temple match with 25 kills, a .327 hitting percentage and nine blocks. Houston improved to 2-1 on the season and 2-0 in the annual tournament. The teams will complete round robin action with one match on Saturday. UH faces LSU (0-2 in the tournament) at 3:00 p.m. while Loyola-Chicago (1-1) will face Temple (1-1) at 1:00 p.m.
