Volleyball Team Rallies to Defeat Southern Miss 3-2

    Cougars Improve To 2-0 In C-USA Action
    HATTIESBURG, MS (September 24) - For the second time in as many matches, the University of Houston volleyball team had to rally before finally winning by a score of three games to two. On Friday night the Cougars came from behind to post a 15-13, 13-15, 6-15, 15-7, 15-13 Conference USA win over league rival Southern Miss on the road in Hattiesburg.

    Senior outside hitter Kristin Guidish paced the Cougars with a season-high 17 kills, a .286 percentage and 17 defensive digs as Houston won its third match in a row and second-straight by a 3-2 count. Junior Jennifer Wittenburg and Stephanie Heiskell both spiked nine kills as UH improved to 6-5 on the season and 2-0 in league play. Southern Miss fell to 9-6 overall and 1-1 in C-USA.

    Houston's C-USA weekend road-swing continues with a match against National Division rival Tulane on Sunday, September 26. First serve from Fogleman Gym in New Orleans will be at 2:00 p.m.
