Cougar Pride Development Associate DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Included but are not limited to): QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must be enrolled at the University of Houston; major in business, marketing, public relations/communications, or athletic administration is preferred; intercollegiate athletics development experience is highly desirable; ability to work 8-12 office hours per week and special events as needed; excellent written and oral communication skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; effective interpersonal skills; strong self-motivated work ethic as well as strong sense of team work are essential; excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail; and the ability to professionally represent the University of Houston by demonstrating pride and loyalty. Sports Graphics & Web Design THE POSITION: The University of Houston Athletics Graphics and Web Design department is seeking creative and self-motivated individuals to serve as a student assistant. To help increase and enhance the graphic standards, as part of the Houston Sports Marketing Association (HSMA) for the 2013-14 school year.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to): BENEFITS: Establish a foundation for a career in graphic design/communication, while increasing his/her knowledge of design, production, photography, and team building. You will also gain valuable marketing, advertising, public relations, and customer service experience. (Opportunities are also available to attain college credit.) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must be a current UH undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor degree in Graphic Communications, Digital Media, Art, Marketing or a related field. Must be able to work approximately ten (10) hours a week, including assigned office hours and events. Must be available on the weekends - including every home football game in the fall. SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Digital Photography, Dreamweaver and Flash/After Effects (preferred but not required). Sports Medicine Houston Cougar Sports Performance is accepting applications for our Sports Performance Internship Program for an unpaid position. Intern responsibilities include: assisting with the supervision of training programs; assisting with daily administrative and maintenance items; completion of various educational assignments during the internship. Intern qualifications include: punctuality, enthusiasm, strong work ethic and a commitment to volunteer a minimum of 40 hours per week. Preferred qualifications include: Senior status or completion of a bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field; CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification; CPR certification. Interns will receive experience working in a Division I training environment, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities and receive college credit if applicable. Athletic Communications THE POSITION: The University of Houston Athletic Communications Department is seeking aggressive, creative and self-motivated individuals to serve as student assistants, and become members of the Cougar Sports Athletic Communications staff for the 2012-13 school year. The department will hire between 6-8 student assistants each year. THE DEPARTMENT: The University of Houston Athletics Communications Department promotes and publicizes UH's 16 intercollegiate sports programs to raise awareness, increase attendance and ticket sales to each athletic event. The communications office is the liaison between the coaches and student-athletes and the outside publics, including the media. The office runs the in-game statistical software and all post-event media needs, in addition to managing all editorial content on www.uhcougars.com. The department also is responsible for being the historical archives of the athletic department. Sports Marketing THE POSITION: The University of Houston Athletics Marketing Department is seeking aggressive, creative, detailed and self-motivated individuals to serve as student assistants, and become members of the Houston Sports Marketing Association (HSMA) for the 2013-14 school year. THE DEPARTMENT: The University of Houston Athletics Marketing Department advertises, markets and promotes all 16 intercollegiate sports programs to raise awareness, increase attendance and ticket sales to each athletic event. The marketing office coordinates the in-game production for each event and prepares promotional scripts for the game day staff. In addition to game production, they are concerned with the fan experience and game atmosphere and develop ways to improve each. The marketing department also works in conjunction with the ticket office to sell tickets and ticket packages to athletic events. Finally, the department oversees the licensing program for the University's trademarks and logos. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must be a current UH student pursuing a degree in sports administration, marketing, business, advertising, public relations or related field. Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Candidates must be team-oriented and must be able to work approximately 10 hours a week, including assigned office hours and events. Applicant must be available on nights and weekends - including each home event for his or her assigned sports and every home football game. Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
