Lauren Spacht netted the first score and added three assists while the Cougar offense was stifled as DePaul marched on for a 4-0 victory over the University of Houston women's soccer team on Friday (Oct. 15) afternoon in Chicago, Ill.
The Cougars were shut out for the third time in the last four games.
Spacht netted DePaul's first goal from ten yards out on an assist from Jennifer Dyer in the 22nd minute. Three minutes later, Spacht returned the favor and fed Dyer a pass from 15 yards out, which Dyer secured past Houston goalie Nicole Oliver for the score.
With a 2-0 lead at half-time, Lea Hill added a third goal in the 48th minute, and in the 63rd minute, Spacht fed Erin Walter a pass on a break-away for the fourth and final score.
Senior midfielder Nikki Hawkins and freshman defender Rachel Trent each had two shots on the afternoon for the COugars. Oliver notched five saves.
With the loss, Houston's record falls to 4-11-0 on the season, including 1-5-0 in C-USA play. They travel north to Milwaukee and take on league rival Marquette on Sunday, Oct. 17 at noon.
