PREVIEW: Houston Heads to SFA on Sunday

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The University of Houston Soccer team travels to face SFA at 7 p.m., Sunday from SFA Soccer Field.

After leading the Ladyjacks (1-2-3) to the 2024 Southland Conference Regular Season and Tournament titles, Head Coach Ben Williams returns to Nacogdoches, Texas, this time leading the Cougars (4-0-1).

LAST TIME OUT
Houston handed McNeese their worst loss in the head-to-head series as the Cougars ran to an 8-0 victory.

Morgan Donohue, Amanda Adams, Amaris Bumba, Adelhia Ghonda, Casey Maddox, Savannah Tafireyi, Madyson Bentil and Cameryn Maddox scored goals while Bentil, Cameryn, Kyrsten Kizer, Nadia Ortiz, Peyton Machado and Samira Minor registered an assist.

ABOUT THE COUGARS

Houston enters 2025 with a brand new coaching staff as Ben Williams was named head coach of the Cougars in February.
Graduate Jaden Humbyrd, junior Kyrsten Kizer and sophomore Casey Maddox were named captains for the 2025 season as voted on by their teammates.
The Cougars feature a revamped roster as they welcome 15 newcomers to the team including 11 transfers and four freshmen.
Houston leads the Big 12 Conference with 125 shots taken. The Cougars are averaging 25 shots per game through five matches. Those 25 shots per game are good for third in the country.
The Cougars lead the nation in shots on goal per game averaging 13.5 per game.
Houston has 22 goals on the season with 14 different goal scorers.
With 22 goals, the Cougars have doubled their goal total from the 2024 season.
Adelhia Ghonda leads the Cougars with four goals this season
Houston has only given up one goal through its first five matches for the first time in program history.
