Women’s Basketball Announces 2026-27 Schedule

Cougars open regular season on Nov. 2 at home vs. Hampton, host Baylor for Big 12 opener on Dec. 21
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball announced its 2026-27 schedule, Head Coach Matthew Mitchell announced Thursday.
The schedule features 17 home games, 11 away games and one neutral-site contest. Game times and broadcast networks will be announced soon.

EXHIBITION GAME AND NON-CONFERENCE SLATE
Houston will host an exhibition game against Eastern New Mexico at 6:30 p.m., October 28, and will officially open year two of the Matthew Mitchell era on November 2 with a noon tipoff against Hampton. The Cougars remain at Fertitta Center for games against Sam Houston (Nov. 5) and Stephen F. Austin (Nov. 10).
After the four-game homestand, Houston will face its first road test against Montana in Missoula, Mont. (Nov. 13).
The Cougars return to Fertitta Center for a three game homestand against Texas A&M Corpus Christi (Nov. 17), Houston Christian (Nov. 21) and Prairie View A&M (Nov. 23).
December brings four more contests as Houston hosts Texas Southern at 11 a.m., December 3 for Education Day followed by Montana State (Dec. 7). The Cougars take a quick trip down the road to face Rice in Tudor Fieldhouse (Dec. 11).
The non-conference slate concludes with the Houston Hoopfest doubleheader with the men's team against LSU (Dec. 13) at Toyota Center.
BIG 12 CONFERENCE SLATE
The 18-game conference schedule includes home matchups against Baylor, West Virginia, Arizona, Oklahoma State, Arizona State and Kansas. The road games include Utah, BYU, Kansas State, Iowa State, Colorado and Texas Tech. Houston will also face TCU, UCF and Cincinnati twice this season, both on the road and at home.
Houston will start conference play by hosting Baylor (Dec. 21) before a two-game road swing to face Utah (Dec. 30) and BYU (Jan. 2).
The Cougars return to Fertitta Center to host West Virginia (Jan. 6) and head to Ohio to face Cincinnati (Jan. 9). Houston returns home for one game against UCF (Jan. 16) before going on the road to Manhattan, Kan., to face Kansas State (Jan. 20).
To end the month, the Cougars will have two home games and one road contest. Houston hosts Arizona (Jan. 23), plays a road contest at Iowa State (Jan. 27) and concludes the month by hosting Oklahoma State (Jan. 31).
In February, Houston embarks on a two-game road trip against Colorado (Feb. 3) and TCU (Feb. 7). The Cougars follow up with a two-game home stand against Arizona State (Feb. 10) and Kansas (Feb. 13).
Houston will travel to Lubbock to face Texas Tech (Feb. 17) before heading home to close out the home slate against TCU (Feb. 20) and Cincinnati (Feb. 23).
The Cougars will conclude their regular season campaign on the road in Orlando, Fla., to face UCF (Feb. 27).
All 16 teams will head to the T–Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo., for the 2027 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Tournament, from March 3-7/8.

ABOUT THE 2026-27 COUGARS
The roster combines a talented mix of freshmen, transfers and returners, led by junior forward Justice Carlton, a former McDonald's All-American and the No. 12 player in the Class of 2024.
The group also includes sophomore guard Janiyah Williams, the No. 53 player in the Class of 2025; junior guard Kaelyn Hamilton, the 2025-26 Mountain West Sixth Player of the Year; sophomore center Elodie Lutbert, an All-WAC Freshman and Defensive Team selection; junior guard Esmeralda Enriquez, the 2026 NJCAA D1 Player of the Year; and senior guard Raegan McCowan, a two-time All-OVC First Team honoree.
The freshman class is highlighted by Marta Llompart, a true point guard who led Spain to win the 2026 FIBA U18 Eurobasket tournament; forward Madison Carlton, a four-star recruit and the No. 91 player in the Class of 2026; guard Alyvia McCorkle, Iowa Girls All-State Basketball Class 5A First Team honoree; and forward Tamia King, District 26-6A's Most Valuable Player.
The Cougars return three players from the 2025-26 roster: senior forward Jorynn Ross, sophomore guard Kayla King and sophomore forward Jemma Hunter.

Seating inside the Fertitta Center for all Houston Women's Basketball games will be reserved starting at $100. Season ticket holders can also add a season-long parking pass inside the Stadium Garage for $75.
Fans who opt for floor, loge and club seats will have access to amenities in the Sideline Club such as complimentary popcorn and soft drinks. A concession stand and cash bar will also be located for fans in the Sideline Club.
