BJ Carden joined the University of Houston Athletics Communications Department as the Ted Nance Communications Assistant in Aug. 2023.
Carden serves as the primary contact for the Houston Women’s Soccer and Women’s Tennis team and is the secondary contact for Houston Men’s Basketball.
Before Houston, Carden worked as a Communications Assistant at Texas A&M where he was the primary contact for the Equestrian team on their runner-up finish in the SEC Championship and a fifth-place finish at the National Collegiate Equestrian Association National Championships.
Carden interned with the operations team at the 2023 Cotton Bowl that saw current Houston Football Head Coach Willie Fritz lead his Tulane team to a victory over Southern California.
Prior to entering athletic communications, Carden was a student manager for Hall of Fame Head Coach Gary Blair and the Texas A&M Women’s Basketball team from Aug. 2019 to Aug. 2022. During his three seasons, Carden assisted with the operations of the 2021 SEC Regular Season Champions.
Carden earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M in Agricultural Communications and Journalism in May 2021 before earning his master’s degree in Sport Management in May 2023.
Originally from Dayton, Texas, Carden has a sister, Amanda, who was a three-year letterwinner for the Houston Softball team from 2022-2024.
