Houston couldn’t complete comeback against Tulsa
HOUSTON – The University of Houston softball team couldn't overcome a four-run third inning by Tulsa in a 4-2 loss to the Golden Hurricane on Saturday afternoon at Cougar Softball Stadium.Â

Senior Mattie Boyd (0-4) tallied the loss in the circle for Houston (19-23, 6-5). Sophomore Hannah Blincoe, who entered in relief in the third, tossed 4.1 shutout innings, only allowing two hits in her 16th appearance of the season. Kylee Nash (8-11) picked up the complete-game win for Tulsa (19-23, 5-6).

3rd | After two singles and a walk loaded the bases for the Golden Hurricane, Imani Edwards hit a grand slam to right-center to put Tulsa up 4-0.Â

4th | Coleman lead off the fourth with her 19th walk of the year, then advanced to third on a pair of groundouts. Sophomore catcher Emma Robertson put Houston on the board, singling home Coleman to shrink the gap to 4-1.Â

5th | Houston cut the deficit further in the fifth. Sophomore outfielder Ja'Naiya Thomas reached on a single to third and later scored as Cantu reached on an infield single, making the score 4-2.Â

After the pair of Houston runs, Tulsa's Nash shut the door, not allowing a Houston runner in the sixth or seventh to clinch the win.
