Cougars head to Fort Worth for three-game set against in-state rival Horned Frogs
FORT WORTH – Houston Baseball is back in action this weekend as it heads to Fort Worth for a three-game series against TCU.

The Cougars and Horned Frogs start the weekend at 6 p.m. Friday before continuing at 2 p.m. Saturday. The series finale is slated for 1 p.m. Sunday. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.Â

- Houston has wins against #3 (Texas) and #6 (Alabama) in the NCAA's latest RPI release. The Cougars are the only Big 12 team with a Top 3 win, one of two with a Top 6 win and one of eight with five Quad One wins.Â
- Houston is 3-5 against ranked opponents this year, including significant wins against #2 Texas on March 24, #15 West Virginia on April 17 and #21 Wake Forest on Feb. 13.Â

- A year after leading the team with a .289 average in Big 12 play, senior Tyler Cox is back in front for the Cougars, pacing the squad with a .324 average against league foes. His success at the plate depends on his exceptional ability to make contact as he ranks third in the nation and first in the Big 12 among hitters who have seen 250 pitches with a 93.7 contact percentage.Â
- Cox is one of the most disciplined hitters in college baseball. He strikes out just once every 13.2 at bats, the best mark in the Big 12 and the 29th best tally in college baseball.Â
- Junior Tre Broussard has been highly ranked on MLB Draft prospects lists. MLB.com put him at No. 46 on their first 2026 Top 100 Draft prospects list while FloBaseball tabbed him at 79th, and D1Baseball placed him at No. 65.
- The Cougars face a loaded schedule in 2026, battling five teams that finished 2025 in the Top 25 of RPI. The team will play 29 of its 55 games against teams that finished in the Top 50 of the NCAA's RPI and 25 games against teams that made the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The Cougars' strength of schedule for this season currently ranks at #29 as the team has played 12 Quad One games, winning five of them.
