Houston Volleyball Outlasts Tulane

| HOUSTON - After five grueling sets, the University of Houston Volleyball team defeated Tulane in five sets (25-15, 19-25, 26-24, 25-17, 15-13) Wednesday evening.
With the win, Houston ties the series 1-1 on the season.
Houston (11-13, 3-9) started off strong in set one as the Cougars hit .310 as a team, holding Tulane (5-19, 3-9) to a negative hitting average (-.133). Houston quickly took the first set, 25-15, but the Green Wave didn't give up. Tulane tied the match 1-1 leading into the half with a 25-19 win in set two.
From there, Tulane took a 2-1 lead with a 26-24 win in set three, but the Cougars wouldn't be defeated on their own court. Houston retaliated with a 25-17 win in set four. The Cougars forced 10 attacking error by Tulane to take the set, forcing a decisive fifth set. Houston battled and with a .308 hitting average and a block, the Cougars defeated Tulane, 3-2, with a 15-13 victory in set five.
The Cougars recorded a season high of 13.0 team blocks.
Senior libero Natalie Keck tallied 29 digs against the Tulane offense. She has reached 508 total digs on the season and is now only 40 digs away from her 2,000th career dig. This is the second consecutive season that Keck has recorded 500+ digs.
Kadi Kullerkann tallied 26 kills, five digs and two blocks against the Green Wave. She has recorded 20+ kills in nine of the last 11 matches dating back to the first match against Tulane this season (Oct. 1, 2014).
Senior middle blocker Kaiti Waters notched a .417 hitting average with six kills, three service aces and six boards against Tulane.
