Grelz Named Third Team Academic All-American

Fifth-year becomes second Swimming & Diving student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors
HOUSTON – University of Houston fifth-year Hedda Grelz was selected as a College Sport Communicator Third Team Academic All-American, the organization announced Tuesday. Grelz is the second Houston Swimming & Diving member to earn Academic All-America honors and earns Houston Athletics' 21st honor.Â

The Lund, Sweden, native graduated in Spring 2024 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and is currently working toward her master's degree in the same discipline. Grelz has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA through both her undergraduate and graduate coursework.

A two-time Big 12 Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Grelz has received Academic All-District honors from CSC in each of the last four years while being named a CSCAA Scholar All-American in each of the last three years.Â

Grelz finished her collegiate career with a trip to NCAA Diving Zones, securing Zone Cuts in all three diving disciplines. Alongside sophomore Michelle McLeod and fifth-year Emilia Waters, the fifth-year was part of Houston's Team Diving group that earned the program's first event title at Big 12 Championships in February. With her finish in individual events, Grelz received All-Big 12 honors in both the 1-meter and 3-meter this year.Â

Grelz is one of two recipients from Big 12 institutions and one of three honorees from Texas-based schools.
