Houston Volleyball Drops in Five to Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. - Another 20-kill performance by senior outside hitter Kadi Kullerkann wasn't enough Sunday afternoon as Houston Volleyball fell to conference foe Tulsa in five sets (16-25, 29-27, 25-23, 14-25, 12-15).
Houston drops to 9-9 on the season, 1-5 in the American Athletic Conference while Tulsa improves to 10-7, picking up its second win in conference play.
The Cougars dropped the first set 25-16, hitting under .100 as a team. Houston quickly regrouped and tied the match 1-1 heading into the half with a 29-27 win in set two.
Following the half, Houston came out guns blazing and took a 2-1 lead with a 25-23 win in the third set. But Tulsa fought back and won the fourth set 25-14 to force a final fifth set and finally taking the match (15-12).
Kullerkann led the Cougars with 22 kills, hitting .265 and four blocks. Her performance this afternoon is the fourth consecutive 20-kill match and her ninth of the season. Senior right side Cortney Warren recorded 18 kills and two blocks.
Freshman Keandra McCardell recorded her fifth double-double of her collegiate career with 50 assists and 11 digs.
UP NEXT
Houston returns home for a two-match series against American Athletic Conference rivals Temple and UConn. The Cougars host Temple Friday at 6 p.m. and the UConn Huskies on Sunday at 1 p.m.
