MISSOURI CITY, Texas -- The University of Houston Men's Golf program will compete in a recent addition to the team's schedule, beginning Monday on the El Dorado Course at Quail Valley Golf Club.
Houston will square off at the HBU Husky Intercollegiate against Florida Atlantic, Incarnate Word, New Orleans, Nicholls State, St. Thomas, Texas Southern, UT Rio Grande Valley, Rice and host Houston Baptist. Teams will play 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday on the 6,931-yard, par-71 layout.
HOUSTON'S LINEUP
Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke recently announced the Cougars' lineup for the HBU Husky Intercollegiate. Houston will be represented by redshirt freshmen Logan Davis and Matt Williams and sophomores Michael Perras, Joshua Gibbons and Papito Gonzalez.
Davis will make his collegiate debut this week. The Humble, Texas, native sat out the 2014-15 as a redshirt.
Perras played in 11 tournaments during his first season in college in 2014-15. The Deer Park, Texas, native tied for third at the Miramont Invitational to help lead the Cougars to their lone team title a year ago and was a member o the Cougars' starting lineup at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., to cap the season.
Like Davis, Williams will make his collegiate debut this week. A native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Williams sat out a year ago as a redshirt.
Gibbons appeared in two tournaments as a redshirt freshman in 2014-15. He finished 23rd at the Cougars' own Bayou City Collegiate Championship in his collegiate debut, thanks to a Final-Round and career-best 71.
Gonzalez competed in three events in 2014-15 as a redshirt freshman. He bettered his final standing at each tournament and finished 37th at Reveille Challenge.
UP NEXT
Following the HBU Husky Intercollegiate, the Cougars return to action when they compete at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate presented by Graeme McDowell on Sept. 28-29 at Shoal Creek in Birmingham, Ala.
From there, the team heads west to take part at the Utah Invitational on Oct. 5-6 at The Jeremy Golf and Country Club in Salt Lake City, Utah.
