Patterson, Crittenden Lead Cougars at Arturo Barrios Invitational

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Houston Cross Country team wrapped up its regular season slate at the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Friday as sophomore Aaron Crittenden led the men's 8k and freshman Cadence Patterson as the leader in the 6k for the women's team.

The women finished 31^st overall, with Patterson as the top finisher for the Cougars with a time of 21:04.1 (107^th). Freshman Madelyn Hunter made her collegiate debut as she crossed the finish line second for Houston at 21:42.2 (165^th), followed by freshman AnnClaire Cop at 21:43.8 (167^th).

Other scorers for the Cougars included freshman Emily Pharris (21:54.0; 165^th), freshman Julia Shimel (22:15.8, 196^th) and freshman Lily Campos (22:21.8, 205^th). Senior Eleni Kaiser was the final scorer for the Cougars as she recorded a personal best time of 22:30.1 (214^th).

On the men's side, Crittenden led the Cougars for the first time in his career with a personal best time of 23:44.9 for 52^nd place. Personal bests were also recorded by freshman Caden Thurman with a time of 24:16.7 (115^th), sophomore Michael Archie at 24:19.9 (119^th), and freshman Zade Kayyali with a mark of 24:37.1 (156^th).

Freshman Remay Abraha made his collegiate debut at 24:42.4 (171^st) and junior Miles Cox crossed the finish line at 24:45.9 (182^nd). Sophomore Grant Sims rounded out the scoring for the men with a personal best time of 24:55.8 (209^th).

Houston will train for two weeks before competing at the Big 12 Cross Country Championship in Waco, Texas, on Friday, Nov. 1.
