
Cross Country Concludes Big 12 Championship Action

Men post 10th place finish and women finish 13th overall
WACO, Texas – The University of Houston Cross Country team competed at the Big 12 Championship Friday morning as fifth-year Branch Cox took the top time for the men and freshman Cadence Patterson took the top time for the women's side at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course.

For a fourth consecutive meet this season, Patterson grabbed the top time for the Houston women, running the 6k race in 21:50, for 72nd overall. Freshman Emily Pharris crossed the finish line second for Houston and 92nd overall with a time of 22:23.27. Freshman Lily Campos finished 100th overall at 22:32.66, followed by freshman AnnClaire Cop at 22:39.54 to grab the 103rd spot. Freshman Madelyn Hunter grabbed the final points for Houston with her 106th place finish at 22:45.22. Freshman Julia Shimel posted a time of 23:01.83 for 119th-place. The women placed 15th overall with 391 points.

Cox led the men's side to a 10th-place team finish in the 8k as he crossed 59th overall at 24:13.15, immediately followed by sophomore Aaron Crittenden in 60th place at 24:17.39.

Freshman Caden Thurman was the third Cougar to score for the men as he posted a time of 24:45.33 for 75th place. Junior Miles Cox finished 81st overall at 25:00.50 and freshman Zade Kayyali was the final Cougar to score in 83rd place at 25:04.66.
